People age 21 years or older can apply to adopt a child * Further eligibility requirements are assessed by Adoption Services using the Structured Analysis Family Evaluation (SAFE) Assessment

Applicants must:
-Be age 21 years or older
-Have resided in PEI for at least six months and plan to stay in PEI for at least two years
-Be financially stable
-Have adequate housing with a private bedroom for a foster child
-Be able to meet assessment criteria including criminal record and child protection record checks

Open to adults who were adopted as children, adoptive parents, birth parents, extended family, and significant others who were affected by an adoption that took place in PEI
