Employment and Training

Provides a three-week half-day preparatory program to help strengthen recovery skills and build daily routines to help individuals integrate back into the community. Includes:

• Group recovery skills sessions
• Preparing and sharing lunch
• Getting access to health and wellness programs
• Helping with activities to support the community

Provides students with summer employment that exposes them to health care fields in Epekwitk / PEI. Work sites may include:

• Long term care facilities
• Home care
• Primary care sites
• Hospitals (including psychiatric)
• Health PEI head office

Application deadline is in March.

• Public health care facilities
• Private long term care facilities

• Attend 12 weeks of in-class and experience/activity based learning
• Learn how to set and achieve positive life and work goals
• Develop individual plans of action to help them reach their goals
• Identify their strengths and skills and build upon those
• Become more confident and self-sufficient

Provides a paid internship opportunity for bilingual youth and French-speaking post-secondary students in Epekwitk / PEI. This 10-week internship offers participants hands-on experience in their field, while allowing them to explore local employers and career opportunities within their home province.

• Life and employability skills building
• Support to help participants find employment in the private sector
• Ongoing coaching and mentoring

Provides a training program for those working toward professional certification in a designated skilled trade in PEI. The program offers a combination of on-the-job training with a qualified tradesperson (80%) with in-class training (20%).

A list of designated skilled trades in PEI is available on the website.Applicants must already have secured employment with a qualified tradesperson they can train under.
