Responds to and investigates complaints from the public regarding the standards of practice about registered nurses, nurse practitioners, registered psychiatric nurses, and midwives.
The nature of the complaint affects how it is handled. The resolution process may involve mediation, dismissal, investigation by an Investigation Committee or Investigator, or possibly a hearing. Complaints cannot be anonymous.
Provides impartial and independent investigations into complaints from citizens against public sector bodies. The Ombudsperson evaluates the fairness of processes, treatment, and decision-making by public agencies.
