Patients can submit a written complaint about a dentist, dental assistant, or dental hygienist.The Council will investigate any complaint related to dental care, including:
- Professional misconduct, such as an alleged failure to abide by established standards of practice
- Conduct that undermines the public's trust in the profession
- Health-related concerns where a professional's personal health condition may affect their ability to provide safe and competent dental care
The Council does not have jurisdiction over fee disputes. As a result, it cannot:
- Direction of dental care, treatment options, or referrals to a different dentist
- Establishing fees for dental care services, fee disputes, or refunds to patients
- Insurance coverage, insurance claims, or administrative procedures related to insurance
- A dentist's participation in government-funded dental programs
