Dental Complaints

Patients can submit a written complaint about a dentist, dental assistant, or dental hygienist.The Council will investigate any complaint related to dental care, including:

• Professional misconduct, such as an alleged failure to abide by established standards of practice
• Conduct that undermines the public's trust in the profession
• Health-related concerns where a professional's personal health condition may affect their ability to provide safe and competent dental care

The Council does not have jurisdiction over fee disputes. As a result, it cannot:

• Direction of dental care, treatment options, or referrals to a different dentist
• Establishing fees for dental care services, fee disputes, or refunds to patients
• Insurance coverage, insurance claims, or administrative procedures related to insurance
• A dentist's participation in government-funded dental programs
