Provides occupational therapy services for children to help them with motor and sensory skills, where there is a concern the child is not meeting developmental milestones. Occupational therapy can help children in the areas of:

  • Self care: Toileting, dressing, bathing, feeding self, eating, as well as following the home routine and completing simple chores
  • Play skills: Playing with a variety of toys and different textures/materials(ex: taking turns and copying actions)
  • Preschool readiness: Drawing, colouring, using scissors, building with blocks or puzzles
  • Exploring environment: Moving around environment safely ( ex: participating on playground equipment)
  • Sensory input: Tolerating different sounds, smells, tastes, or textures

Note: School based occupational therapy for school-aged children is also available, but referrals must come from the school and there is no self-referral process.

Provides assessment services and prenatal classes for expecting parents. The classes include information about:
  • Experiencing a healthy pregnancy, birth and recovery
  • Feeding and caring for your baby (breastfeeding, nutrition and infant care)
  • Stages of child growth and development
  • Infant immunization
  • Keeping your family safe and healthy

Helps cover the costs of annual eye exams and and up to three pairs of glasses for children in grades one-six, as needed.

Note: Children must be registered before submitting claims to Health PEI. Without proof of eligibility, families may need to pay full cost.

Provides confidential and supportive reproductive and sexual health care to Islanders of all genders, orientations and ages. Please note some services may only be available at a specific location.

  • Prenatal care for individuals without a primary care provider
  • Menopause counseling and care for individuals without a primary care provider

Provides speech language pathology services for adults who are experiencing:
  • Voice disorders
  • Neurological conditions (for example: Parkinson's, ALS)
  • Stuttering
  • Cognitive communication (for example: brain injury, dementia)
  • Augmentative or alternative communication
  • Gender-affirming voice and communication services

Provides assistance to preschool aged children who need help developing speech and language abilities. Includes:
  • Consultation
  • Screening and assessment
  • Treatment
  • Workshops
  • Community visits

Receives and responds to compliments and complaints from users of PEI's health care system. Submissions can be made online, by phone, or by mail.

Provides a free at-home monitoring program for PEI residents living with heart failure or Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Patients will receive monitoring equipment that will send vital signs directly to an RPM nurse.

Program helps patients to:
  • Learn to manage their chronic disease from the comfort of home
  • Avoid unnecessary trips to the hospital
  • Catch problems before they become an emergency
  • Become more involved in managing their health and quality of life
