    Service Description

    Provides surgical abortion services are available for individuals who are over 14 weeks pregnant or when a physician is unavailable. Health PEI has arrangements with the Moncton Hospital and the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Halifax to provide this service.

    Products specifications
    Eligibility:Must have a valid PEI Health Card * For Moncton Hospital, must be no more than 14 weeks pregnant * For QEII in Halifax, must be no more than 16 weeks pregnant
    Fees:Yes * Must be able to pay cost of travel and accommodations* Travel subsidies may be available through Health PEI's Travel Support Programs
    How to Access:Moncton: Self-referral * If considering this option, contact hospital using toll-free number as soon as possible;Halifax: Must be referred by a PEI physician (Women's Wellness and Sexual Health Services can provide a referral) * If considering this option, seek a physician referral as soon as possible * If having difficulty obtaining a referral, contact the Nova Scotia Women's Choice Clinic at the QEII for assistance * Referrals must be submitted to PEI's Out-of-Province Coordinator and will be approved within 48 hrs
