Service Description

Early Years Autism Specialists provide individualized services to help preschool and kindergarten aged children who are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders to acquire new skills. Appointments occur at the child's home, early learning centre or school and services can include:
  • Intensive Behavioural Intervention (I.B.I.) for up to 25 hours per week to help children with communication and everyday living skills
  • Transition to school planning
  • Intensive Kindergarten Support (I.K.S.)
Note: Once children enter school, a school-based Autism Consultant will continue to monitor and assist the child throughout their school years. This is arranged automatically as part of the child's transition to school plan.


Young children up to August 31 of the year they enter school who are diagnosed with one of the following:
-Autistic Disorder
-Pervasive Developmental Disorder-Not Otherwise Specified
-Aspberger Syndrome
-Autism Spectrum Disorder

Note: Provisional diagnosis of any of the above will be accepted for referral and placement on the waitlist but diagnosis must be confirmed in writing prior to beginning of services.

How to Access:
Formal referral must be submitted by the diagnosing registered medical professional (e.g. psychologist, pediatrician, psychiatrist)
Documents Required:
Completed referral documents * Call or email about adding a child to the waitlist prior to the referral documents being completed
Program Hours:
Appointments take place at the child's home, early years centre or school between the hours of 8:30am-5pm
