A supportive, non-judgmental space for families with trans or gender diverse children to meet and have discussions with other parents, staff and volunteers of PEERS Alliance. Parents/caregivers will unlearn myths about gender identity and replace those myths with knowledge and support around issues of gender diversity.
The program is based on the two most important parts of a plant: the roots (parents and caregivers) are responsible for nurturing the shoots (children and dependents) to be the best version of themselves they can be.
For parents and caregivers: Can join Roots and Shoots group
For trans and gender diverse youth ages 12-18 years: Can join a supportive space called Saplings at Charlottetown. For youth in Summerside can join Rainbow Youth Club which occurs at the same time as Roots and Shoots.
For gender creative children ages 13 years and younger: Can join shoots portion of the evening that is offered partnership with Wild Child PEI. It includes fun, outdoor programming with staff, volunteers, and kids who are just like them.
