Provides drinking water testing services to measure bacteria levels and for chemical analysis.

Provides a 24/7 phone number for the public to report environmental emergencies. The Environmental Emergency Response Team responds to reports of emergencies. Includes:

• Air pollution problems
• Fish kills
• Oil, pesticide and chemical spills

• Asbestos-containing material
• Metal-containing or hydro-carbon contaminated soils
• Sharps (needles, broken glass or other sharp objects capable of causing cuts or punctures)
• Burnable waste from ships and aircraft from outside the province
• Oil-soaked materials
• Diseased potatoes from testing laboratories
• Empty ammonium nitrate fertilizer bags
• Screenings from a waste treatment plant
• Non-hazardous laboratory waste
• Creosoted or pressure-treated material
• Biomass wet with a solvent
• Absorbent materials and clothing contaminated with human or animal blood, tissue or bodily fluids produced from medical or veterinary procedures in hospital, medical centres or clinic, or veterinary hospitals or clinics
• Body-piercing procedures in tattoo or body-piercing establishments

Issues burning permits for Category 2, 3 and 4 fires to those who wish to use outdoor fire pits/fireplaces or to dispose of grasses, brush, leaves or other woody debris during fire season (March 15th to November 15th).

Permits are not required for Category 1 fire (burning domestic brush) and campfires, but the fire restrictions must be checked each day prior to burning.

Exceptions - the following communities issue burn permits at their local municipal office:
