CNIB Foundation - PEI

Provides multiple scholarships and bursaries to support individuals who are blind, deafblind, or have low vision to cover post-secondary studies. By Submitting an application, applicants will automatically considered for any eligible scholarships based on the criteria.

Staff will demonstrate how to use different assistive devices such as:

• Google Home
• Amazon Echo
• Desktop and handheld digital magnifiers
• Computer programs such as Zoomtext and Jaws
• iPad, iPhone voice over training and more

Online entrepreneur resource that provides tips and inspiration to help individuals with sight loss succeed in their business venture. Includes:

• Podcast
• App to learn about being an entrepreneur
  
• Partners and opportunities
• Business plan tips and more

Online collection of articles, books, videos, list of services and information related to sight loss. Includes:

• Accessible environments guidelines
• Eye care, safety, health and diseases
• Facts on blindness in Canada
• Blindness at work
• Library services for people with sight loss
• Technologies that can help people with sight loss
• Tips on how to support someone with sight loss
• First steps to read in braille
• Books and information for families and educators
• Education, employment and leisure resources
• Research projects and more

Provides an annual retreat camp for youth who use or are learning braille. Participants will have an opportunity to meet other young writers with sight loss while play and learn. Activities include:

• Campfires
• Canoeing
• Braille scavenger hunts
• Creative writing workshops and more

All program materials are offered and one parent per student is also invited to attend.
