The Housing Navigators make referrals and help individuals to access the right resources by assessing the risks associated with an individual's housing circumstances. Includes:

Providing an overview of programs related to housing in Epekwitk / PEI
Assisting with applications for Family Housing Program and Seniors Housing Programs
Making referrals to, and helping in accessing, community resources
Developing case planning and management for complex clients
Connecting clients and landlords
Accessing settlement services for immigrants and refugees
Following up to ensure clients getting the help they need
Finding mental health resources that may prevent clients from accessing housing

Housing Services - Seniors Housing Program Provided by: Government of Prince Edward Island - Department of Housing and Communities - AKA: Housing, Land and Communities (former name)

Eligible individuals can apply for rental housing in Seniors Housing units in 32 communities across PEI or be provided with a rent supplement benefit to help pay for private landlord owned housing in any PEI community. Rent is based on the income of the tenant.

Units are generally one-bedroom apartments with a living room, kitchen, bathroom, and storage area. There are a limited number of bachelor and two-bedroom units. Heat is included in the rent. Tenant is responsible for furnishings, utilities other than heat, and tenant insurance.

Housing Services - Survivors of Gender-Based Violence Housing Benefit Provided by: Government of Prince Edward Island - Department of Housing and Communities - AKA: Housing, Land and Communities (former name)

Provides financial assistance to support qualifying individuals who are escaping abusive situations by helping to cover monthly housing expenses, such as rent, mortgage payments, or property tax, up to $7,200 annually. The benefit can also provide a one-time non-repayable damage deposit of up to $2000.

Gender-based violence: based on gender norms and unequal power dynamics against someone because of their sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression, or perceived gender including women, girls, and 2SLGBTQI+. Violence takes many forms including physical, sexual, financial, as well as emotional (psychological) abuse.

This is a shared program through the Governments of Canada and Prince Edward Island as part of the National Housing Strategy.
