Service Description

Islanders can apply for rental housing in Family Housing units located in nine communities or to be provided with a rent supplement benefit to help pay for private landlord owned housing anywhere in PEI. Rent is based on 25% of total household gross income. Family Housing units may be available in the following communities:
  • Alberton
  • Charlottetown area
  • Georgetown
  • Montague
  • Mount Stewart
  • O'Leary
  • Souris
  • Summerside
  • Tignish

Eligibility:
Island families or individuals who have low income, poor existing housing conditions or other special circumstances * Tenants are selected based on their current situation, please visit website for more details * Income must be below the following annual gross income levels to apply:
-Bachelor $23,000.00
-One Bedroom $29,000.00
-Two Bedroom $35,500.00
-Three or Four Bedroom $39,500.00

Yes * Successful applicants must pay 25% of their gross monthly income
How to Access:
Complete and submit online application form OR complete paper application form and return to any PEI Housing Services office * Housing staff will then contact applicants to set up an in-home interview
Documents Required:
Completed application form * Staff will inform applicants what documents to have available for proof of income and household expenses when booking the in-home interview
