SkillsPEI - Youth Apprenticeship Program Provided by: Government of Prince Edward Island - Department of Workforce and Advanced Learning - AKA: Workforce, Advanced Learning and Population (former name)

Provides high school students with an opportunity to explore trade career options and gain a head start on the post-secondary apprenticeship training program.

Note: Students must already be employed with a suitable employer in a designated trade. A list of designated trades in PEI can be found on the website.

STEP Provided by: Connection 2 Employment PEI - AKA: EPYDC; East Prince Youth Development Centre (former name)

Provides a 10 week group course in which participants are paid while developing the skills and knowledge necessary to make a successful transition to the labour market or return to school. This program is offered in Summerside and Charlottetown (Charlottetown location varies). Classroom teachings include:

Life skills
Employability and essential skills
Specialized training including First Aid and CPR, WHMIS, Service Excellence, Food Service Certification

Veterans Affairs - Education and Jobs Provided by: Government of Canada - Veterans Affairs Canada - AKA: VAC

Provides a variety of services to help veterans find a job and upgrade their skills and education. Includes:

Career transition services: career counselling, help with resume writing, interview preparation, job searching, skills development and more
Education and training benefit: Financial support for veterans to obtain education for their career or personal goals.
Vocational rehabilitationn: Skills development, education or training and other supports to help veterans establish a new career.
Veteran family program: Help veteran family to develop a successful transition plan by identifying needs and navigate them the right resources

Women's Employability Program Provided by: East Prince Women's Information Centre - AKA: EPWIC

A 12-week program that enhances skills and provides meaningful work experience to help lead to employment. A weekly training allowance is available if the participant is not on Employment Insurance (EI). Funding is available for child care and transportation.

Workplace Essential Skills for Success Provided by: Workplace Learning PEI - AKA: WLPEI

Designed to assist adults who are entering or participating in the workforce and require additional skills to achieve success. Includes:

Upskilling for workplace or career goals
Getting a high school equivalency (CAEC)
Passing a Canadian Red Seal test (Challenger)
Preparing for other industry certifications (TOWES)
