Student Financial Services - Community Service Bursary

Service Description

Provides bursaries for students entering post-secondary of up to $750.00 in recognition of volunteer work completed between the end of Grade 9 and June 30 of the year the student graduates Grade 12. Bursaries have no cash value and are applied directly to the student's post-secondary account in November of the year following high school graduation.


PEI students who accumulate volunteer hours from Grade 10 up to June 30 of their Grade 12 year, as long as the work completed meets the following criteria:
-Takes place at a non-profit, non-political organization registered with the Community Services program (see website for list of eligible organizations)
-Is not a fundraising activity and does not displace paid employees
-Is not part of the applicant's academic studies, related to extra-curricular activities or sporting events, or during school hours. International Baccalaureate community service requirements do not qualify.
-Offers a new and meaningful experience and helps the applicant develop career and leadership skills
-The sponsor organization agrees to supervise and keep a record of the applicant's volunteer hours

How to Access:
Contact an organization from the list or organizations registered with the Community Services program (available online) and begin volunteering * Submit a completed Community Service Bursary Student Registration Form (available online) to register for the program
Documents Required:
Once volunteer hours are completed, the volunteer organization must submit the Community Service Bursary Volunteer Hours Record
