Social Programs - Seniors Independence Initiative

Service Description

Provides eligible older adults with financial assistance up to $1,800, depending on income, to help them pay for practical services that help them stay in their own homes. Services covered by funding include:

  • General home maintenance
  • Light house keeping
  • Snow removal
  • Grass cutting
  • Meal preparation
  • Transportation
  • Communication devices such as smartphones, computer modem, and WiFi devices
  • Complements supports provided to seniors by Home Care or family members for daily unmet needs
  • Lifeline Medical Alert System

Information

Eligibility:
PEI residents age 65 years or older who:
-Live independently or with a spouse
-Have a net household income of $32,753 or less for a single person or $41,970 or less for a couple, as defined by line 236 on your CRA Notice of Assessment
-Have combined assets not greater than $100,000 excluding primary residence, land and vehicles

*Family members are eligible service providers if they do not live in the same home as the senior
