Service Description

Provides a rebate for hearing aids to eligible individuals with a maximum payable rebate of $6000. Hearing aids are payable once every five years.

Information

Eligibility:
Must meet all the following conditions:
-Ages 65 years and older
-Income must be below $22,253 for individuals or $34,470 for couples
-Hearing assessments are completed by a Certified Audiologist in consultation with a family physician or ear, nose and throat specialist
-Applicant's average decibel level at 500 Hz, 1000 Hz, 2000 Hz, and 3000 Hz frequencies is 50 dB or greater
-To be eligible for full benefits, applicant must not have other medical coverage. If the applicant has coverage for a hearing aid but would be in financial hardship to cover the co-pay, this program may help cover the difference. The hearing aid must meet program criteria and not cost more than the maximum of $3,000 per hearing aid
