Service Description

A life skills and employment readiness program with a focus on jobs where women are underrepresented. The program:
  • Focuses on confidence building, conflict resolution, group activities, learning styles and overall wellness
  • Follows four pillars: personal development, employment readiness, career exploration, and community engagement
  • Has guest speakers, employers, and mentors in various fields
  • Participants tour Holland College to explore programs and job opportunities
  • Is a full-time course
  • Includes all materials
Participants are able to keep income support and maintain Employment Insurance (EI) while enrolled in the program. Child care and travel subsidies (where applicable) are available.

Information

Eligibility:
Women ages 22-45 years (some flexibility) who:
-Have limited attachment to the workforce, lack confidence, limited education, intergenerational poverty, addiction issues, abuse, family violence, mental and physical healthy challenges, lone parents, and/or limited supports
-Who face barriers in employment and/or career advancement
-Have a desire and aptitude to work and increase their employability on PEI
-Who have lived on PEI for at least 3 months and are either Canadian citizens or permanent residents
-Who are on EI, are working 20 hours per week or less, are on social assistance or have no income
-Who can commit to full-time programming
