PEI Pharmacare - Phenylketonuria Supplement Program

Service Description
Provides eligible applicants with financial assistance to pay for approved nutritional supplements that have been recommended by a dietitian to treat phenylketonuria (PKU). Includes:
- Full cost coverage for eligible special low-protein formulas
- Annual coverage up to $3600 for specialty food items carried through the National Food Distribution Centre

PEI residents diagnosed with phenylketonuria (PKU)

Yes * Applicants may be required to pay a portion of the costs
How to Access:
Physicians must request registration into the program on behalf of the patient
Documents Required:
Valid PEI Health Card * Physician must include a confirmed diagnosis from the IWK Biochemical Genetics Department with the application
