Housing Services - Seniors Safe @ Home Program

Service Description

Provides eligible seniors with funds to improve their home's accessibility.

Eligible work includes:
  • Accessibility improvements
  • Stair lifts
  • Grab bars
  • Ramps
  • Walk in shower
  • Hise rise toilet
Maximum grants are based on combined annual income:
  • $35,000 or less: $10,000
  • $35,001-$38,000: $8,400
  • $38,001-$41,000: $6,800
  • $41,001-$44,000: $5,200
  • $44,0001-$47,000: $3,600
  • $47,001-$50,000: $2,000

Information

Eligibility:
Must:
-Be a PEI resident (have a PEI Health Card) and a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident 60 years or older
-Have a household income of $50,000 or less
-Currently reside in the property and it be your principle residence
-Be the owner of the property or have a life interest in the property
-Have not met the maximum grant through previous applications to the PEI Home Renovation Programs

If you are 60 years or older and applied to the PEI Home Renovation Programs, you will be automatically assessed for the Seniors Safe @ Home Program

Use the Seniors Safe @ Home Self Assessment Guide to help determine needs, then complete and submit the application form * Apply online or download the application form from the website and return by email, fax, in person to the Main Office or to any Access PEI location

Completed application form * Two estimates for the cost of the work * Notice of Assessment from previous tax year
