Housing Services - Seniors Safe @ Home Program

Service Description

Provides eligible seniors with between $2,000 and $10,000 to improve their home's accessibility.

Eligible work includes:
  • Accessibility improvements
  • Stair lifts
  • Grab bars
  • Ramps
  • Walk in shower
  • Hise rise toilet


-Individuals ages 60 and older at the time of application
-PEI resident (have a PEI Health Card) and a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
-Senior applicant's income only or the senior's combined income (if living with your spouse or partner) is $50,000 or less (income of other household members is not considered with this program only)
-Property is your principle residence and you currently reside in the home that
you, your spouse, or family member own, or you have a life interest in the property (rental properties are not eligible)
-Have not met the maximum grant through previous applications to the PEI Home Renovation Programs

Use the Seniors Safe @ Home Self Assessment Guide to help determine your needs, then complete and submit the application form (available online or in person) * Forms can be submitted to the PEI Home Renovation Programs/Housing Programs office in person, by mail or via any Access PEI location
