Housing Services - Home Renovation Program

Service Description

Provides Islanders in need with financial assistance to help cover the cost of major structural renovations to private homes. Homeowners may receive up to $12,000 to cover eligible renovations to structure, heating, plumbing, and electrical systems or to improve life safety. Applicants with permanent disabilities may be eligible for up to an additional $16,000 if the renovations improve accessibility.

Information

Eligibility:
-PEI resident (have a PEI Health Card) and a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
-Combined income is $50,000 or less
-Property is your principle residence and you currently reside in the home
-You are an owner of the property or have a life interest in the property
-Your property value is $300,000 or less
-You have not met the maximum grant through previous applications to the PEI Home Renovation Programs

Complete an application form and submit to the PEI Home Renovation Programs/Housing Programs office in person, by mail or via any Access PEI location * Application forms are also available to be printed from the website
Documents Required:
Notice of Assessment from previous tax year * Proof of home ownership * Two price quotes for the work the applicant wishes to have done to their home
