Housing Services - Home Renovation Program

Service Description
Provides financial assistance to help cover the cost of major structural renovations to private homes. Eligible renovations include structural, heating, plumbing, and electrical systems, improvement for life safety, and accessibility upgrades for applicants with a permanent disability.
Maximum grants are based on combined annual income.

- $35,000 or less: $12,000
- $35,001-$38,000: $10,000
- $38,001-$41,000: $8,000
- $41,001-$44,000: $6,000
- $44,0001-$47,000: $4,000
- $47,001-$50,000: $2,000
- $35,000 or less: $16,000
- $35,001-$38,000: $13,200
- $38,001-$41,000: $10,400
- $41,001-$44,000: $7,600
- $44,0001-$47,000: $4,800
- $47,001-$50,000: $2,000

Eligibility:
Must:
-Be a PEI resident (have a PEI Health Card) and a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
-Have a combined income is $50,000 or less
-Currently reside in the property and it be your principle residence
-Be the owner of the property or have a life interest in the property
-Property valued at $300,000 or less
-Have not met the maximum grant through previous applications to the PEI Home Renovation Programs
-Be a PEI resident (have a PEI Health Card) and a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident

-Currently reside in the property and it be your principle residence
-Be the owner of the property or have a life interest in the property
-Property valued at $300,000 or less
-Have not met the maximum grant through previous applications to the PEI Home Renovation Programs

How to Access:
Apply online or download the application form from the website and return by email, fax, in person to the PEI Home Renovations office or to any Access PEI location
Documents Required:
Notice of Assessment from previous tax year * Proof of home ownership * Two price quotes for the renovation work * PEI Health Card Number * Social Insurance Number * If applying as a person with a disability, include a medical verification form indicating the permanent disability and the necessary modifications to the home to improve accessibility or life safety
