Service Description

Parents can educate their children at home using a home education program or by following the public education system's curriculum.

Note: Home educated students do not receive high school diplomas unless they enter the public school system and graduate with the required number of credits. The school board will determine each child's grade level if they return to/enter the public school system.

Eligibility:
Parents who intend to home school their children must notify the Department of Education and Lifelong Learning before the school year starts
Fees:
Yes * Parents who choose to use the public education system curriculum can access curriculum text books by paying a $50 fee per child which is refunded when the books are returned
How to Access:
Fill out the Home Education Notice of Intent application form (available online) for the upcoming school year and submit to the Department prior to the beginning of the school year
