Fertility Support Program

Service Description

Reimburses eligible expenses of Islanders who are accessing in-vitro fertilization (IVF), intrauterine insemination (IUI) and associated prescribed medications at out-of-province fertility clinics. Funding can be accessed for up to three years for one successful pregnancy or up to three attempts. Maximum funding amounts per year are based on income:
  • Annual family income of under $50,000 = maximum annual funding of $10,000
  • Annual family income between $50,001 to $100,000 = maximum annual funding of $7,500
  • Annual family income over $100,001 = maximum annual funding of $5,000

Eligibility:
Applicants must:
-Be permanent PEI residents as defined by the Drug Cost Assistance Act
-Have a valid PEI Health Card
-Have filed their most recent income tax return in PEI
-Submit all eligible receipts to private insurance first if applicable; remaining expenses can then be submitted to the Fertility Support Program for reimbursement

Note: Expenses incurred prior to January 1, 2021 are not eligible for reimbursement.
