Service Description

Supports Epekwitnewaq Mi'kmaq students reach their full potential by encouraging academic, cultural, and social growth from Early years to grade 12. Education Program staff work closely with administrators, teachers, and staff of John J. Sark Memorial School, Westisle Family of Schools, Bluefield Family of Schools, and Morell Family of Schools to address the unique needs of First Nations students. Areas of focus include:

  • Ensuring education services better reflect student needs, culture and language
  • Helping students and their families develop goals to address school absenteeism and discontinuation
  • Providing technology support and innovative learning solutions for students, staff, and schools
  • Increasing opportunities for Mi'kmaq language and cultural instruction across the province

Families and preschool or school-aged students living in Lennox Island First Nation or Abegweit First Nation or who are living off-reserve
