Service Description

Individuals may request a Criminal Background Check and Vulnerable Sector Check, often required for employment or volunteering.
  • Criminal Background Check: Uses names and date of birth to check a person's criminal history.
  • Vulnerable Sector Check: Required for applicants who will be in a position of trust or authority over children, the elderly,or other vulnerable group. A name-based search of the national repository of criminal convictions and a query of the pardoned sex-offender database is conducted. Fingerprints may be required.

Eligibility:
Residents of City of Summerside
Criminal Background Check: Ages 18 years and older * Under 18 years if requested by a government organization
Vulnerable Sector Check: 18 years and older * Must meet the criteria of the Criminal Background Check
Fees:
Yes * No fees if for a volunteer role
How to Access:
Drop in to complete application forms * Individuals cannot request a Vulnerable Sector Check; an organization must require it for employment or volunteering
Documents Required:
One piece of photo ID * Vulnerable Sector Check: Letter from the organization requiring the Check
