COVID-19: Mortgage Payment Deferral

Provided by: Government of Canada

Service Description

Homeowners facing financial hardship may be eligible for a mortgage payment deferral of up to six months.

The deferral is an agreement between the home owner and the lender. Usually this is a pause or suspension of payments for a certain amount of time. After the agreement is over, the payments return to normal. Deferral payments including the interest are added to the outstanding mortgage.
