Service Description

Newcomers are paired with an individual who is an established resident in the community so they can spend time together. Volunteers and clients may be single, couples or families. Matches are made based on similar interests, location and other factors. The program helps newcomers:
  • Adjust to living in PEI and make community connections
  • Learn about cultural norms and expectations
  • Develop language skills informally
  • Explore opportunities in the community

Eligibility:
Must be a registered client of IRSA to participate

How to Access:
Individuals who are not registered clients can book an appointment with an Intake Worker to become clients for free * Existing clients can drop-in, call or contact through website to make an appointment

Program Hours:
Once paired, volunteers and clients set their own times to meet * Pairs generally spend three to four hours per week together over a period of six months total
