Service Description

A tax-free amount paid to help individuals and families offset the cost of the federal pollution pricing. The benefit is a basic amount plus supplement for residents of small and rural areas and is paid out quarterly.

The benefit begins July 1, 2023 for PEI, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Nova Scotia. Residents for these provinces will only receive three payments for 2023 (July, October, and January).

Note: PEI residents do not need to apply for the rural supplement as it is included in the basic amount. Other provinces do need to apply for the rural supplement.

Open to:-Residents of Canada for income tax purposes at the beginning of the month in which the CRA makes a payment-Residents of qualifying provinces-Must be 19 years old-If under 19 years, must meet one of the following conditions during the same period:Have (or previously had) a spouse or common-law partner or are (or previously were) a parent and live (or previously lived) with your childNote: Only one spouse or common-law partner can calim the credit for the family
