Provides a monthly pension to the surviving spouse or common-law partner of a deceased Canada Pension Plan (CPP) contributor.

Individuals who, at the time of death, are the legal spouse or common-law partner of a deceased Canada Pension Plan contributor

How to Access:
Complete an application form; available from a Service Canada Centre or onlineThe survivor is responsible for applying for the monthly pension * If the survivor is incapable of applying, they may have a representative (such as a trustee) apply for them. Survivors should apply as soon as possible after the contributor's death. Delays may result in loss of benefits.

Completed form * Death Certificate of the deceased * Marriage certificate or Statutory Declaration of a common-law relationship * Social Insurance Number
