Service Description

Provides monthly disability benefits to people who have made enough contributions to the CPP and who are disabled and cannot work at any job on a regular basis.

The payment amount varies - there is a basic amount and additional money based on how much an individual paid into the Canadian Pension Plan while working.

Eligibility:
Eligible applicants:
-Are under 65
-Contributed enough to the Canada Pension Plan
-Have a mental or physical disability that regularly stops you from doing any type of substantially gainful work
-Have a disability that is long-term and of indefinite duration, or is likely to result in death

How to Access:
The executor should apply for the benefit within 60 days of the date of death * Apply online, drop off the application form at the nearest Service Canada office, or mail it to: PO Box 8000, Station Central, Charlottetown, PE C1A 8K1 * Apply as soon as you develop a severe and prolonged or terminal medical condition that prevents you from working regularly at any job
