Below are current options and recent past options for Fiona clean up.
 
Options available:
 
Debris Pits:
Debris pits for disposal of fallen trees and branches are open in communities across PEI. For a map of sites, click here.  Pits are open daily from 8am-6pm. CLOSED October 2023
 
Large Debris Curbside Pick-up:
Curbside pick-up of large debris such as tree branches ENDED June 30, 2023 for areas OUTDISE of Summerside & Charlottetown. Residents of Summerside & Charlottetown should check with their municipalities.
 
Island Waste Management Corporation (IWMC):
IWMC Waste Watch Drop-Off Centres are open. Fiona debris can be dropped off with regular fees applicable.
 
Help with Removal of Trees:
Government of PEI has tree clean up of residential properties registration CLOSED June 16th. Questions: 1-833-734-1873.
 
Marine & Shoreline Clean-up:
Anyone who comes across marine and shoreline debris should report it by filling out an online form or by calling Contact PEI at 1-833-734-1873.

Requests should include the following information:

  • Beach name
  • Description of debris
  • Pictures 
  • Location and surrounding landmarks
  • Your contact information

Fiona Property Support Initiative:
All building and development permits fees charged by the Province of Prince Edward Island will be waived for property owners who need to repair or replace residential structures that legally existed prior to September 24, 2022. Click here for more information.
 
For residents in municipalities that have responsibility to issue permits within their municipal boundaries, residents may contact their municipality directly.
 
Application deadline: March 31, 2024
 
Hurricane Fiona Forestry Recovery Program:
Available for small forestry businesses and landowners who were not eligible for assistance under previous Hurricane Fiona recovery programs. The focus is on clearing Fiona-felled trees on essential forest access roads, and on small woodlots where land may pose a fire risk to nearby urban areas and infrastructure. The recovery work will be carried out by the landowner or by a private contractor. Tree planting and landscaping services are not included under this program.
