IWK Health Centre

An injury prevention program dedicated to reducing the incidence and severity of unintentional injury to children and youth in the Maritimes.

Offers assessment and consultation for children who need adaptive seating and mobility devices. These devices support children who cannot stand or keep their posture against gravity.

Provides free fuel cards to families who must frequently travel to the IWK to provide their children with urgent medical care.

Offers families of children and youth who have a physical disability or acquired brain injury the opportunity to borrow a variety of adapted equipment. Includes:

24-hour telephone service that provides access to expert clinical advice aimed at limiting or preventing injury due to drugs or poisons.

The Adolescent Day Treatment team works with youth who need professional mental health support on a daily basis to manage their mental health difficulties.

Provides care and support to pregnant women, including high-risk obstetrical care to women throughout the Maritimes.

A self-referral clinic which serves women experiencing bladder problems. Clinic staff provide women with education, conservative non-surgical treatment, and follow-up care.
